Now, without further ado, Mr. Perry Lawrence…

5 Reasons to Start Your Video Podcast

by Perry Lawrence of AskMrVideo.com

I’ve been producing direct to web TV shows and Video Podcasts for my clients for the last 3 years. I started with my first client – a minivan-driving mother of four – and saw her star skyrocket. As she got more and more speaking bookings, due in large part to her weekly business tips she delivered in her Texas drawl and our marketing tactics, Carrie Wilkerson aka The Barefoot Executive took the internet by storm.

Since that time I’ve produced hundreds of shows and trained hundreds more to create their own web tv show. Here are 5 reasons why I believe you should create your very own direct to web TV show.

#1 Exposure
In today’s marketplace, you need to be able to stand out from the crowd. There are 150,000 new domains registered each and every day. It’s a crowded marketplace and it’s not going to get any less crowded. Video gives you the ability to stand out like no other medium. Whatever your online endeavor is – whether that be your personal brand, your company, or your institution – online video will leapfrog you high above and over the competition. Even with all the competition out there for eyeballs, relatively few are doing consistant video. By producing a video series you will rise above the noise. Consider this – who else in your industry is doing video?

#2 Credibility
In his book Influence, The Power of Persuasion, Robert Cialdini talked about the concept of Know, Like and Trust. His point was not only do people need to know, like and trust you, but they need to recognise that you know, like and trust THEM. I have found that this two way street is most easily attained by using simple video. By actually SEEING you deliver your important message, pitch or bon mot, your audience not only gets to know like and trust you but they clearly see whether or not you know like and trust THEM. Expert pitchmen can communicate to you via long form sales letters. You can only infer what their intention is while reading the endless features and benefits. But when the owner or developer steps out in front of the camera you can clearly see what the intentions are and if they truly “get” their audience.

#3 Cost
I have been shooting video for over 20 years and in no time in the history of the world has video been cheaper to produce. Not only has the cost of HD video come down to sub $200 levels for cameras, but hosting HD video is now FREE thanks to YouTube, Vimeo, iTunes and the like. When I was shooting and editing commercials only 10 years ago, the cost was prohibitive for all but the huge agencies and companies. And the quality of online video? Eww. Not big and not good. Tiny video barely playing. And believe me we had dedicated folks working hard to get the quality and size larger. Now HD video online is everywhere and costs pennies. Not only that but the ability to distribute your video across a number of “outlets” is possible. It’s like having your TV show on every station. Well, online you can!

#4 Ease
No longer do you need a complex set of gear, lighting, editing and crew to get video online. You can go from camera to internet in minutes, and in High Definition, where before it once took days. Even your phone takes high quality video and uploads it to the internet. Imagine the possibilities! Young kids are creating their futures with simple consistent video. Mom’s are finding their voice and spreading their messages out with ease. entrepreneurs, solopreneurs, and CEO’s are showcasing their talents and services to their specific audience. If you haven’t, take a moment to think of reaching a global audience, consistently and with your unique message. If you aren’t doing it now, your competitor will be tomorrow. It is the next frontier. What will YOU share with YOUR audience?

#5 Efficiency
Video is what I call a Rich Medium. It has the visual, the audio, and once transcribed, the text. So with one medium I can easily strip out the audio for an audio presentation. I can also transcribe the audio and offer the content as text. I can distribute these three different forms across many different sites and platforms. I use the video as a Video podcast on iTunes and the shows get automatically distributed to my viewers. I take the audio and distribute it as an audio podcast and on CD roms. I use the transcripts for their SEO value on my blog as well as in article marketing. So I can leverage my efforts to gain a huge advantage and massive SEO value and audience share. One video leveraged multiple ways.

So there you have it – affordable, efficient, and easy exposure for credibility. What’s keeping YOU from starting YOUR video podcast?

Perry and I are putting something together for you that we’ve been working on for some time. In just a couple of weeks we’ll be ready to take the wraps off. I have to say this has been the most fun I’ve had in a long time because of how Perry and I work together. I know that might seem like a trivial thing, but it’s energized us around here to attempt great things on your behalf. And I can’t wait to show you!

Back to Dan. (I’m getting dizzy!) So here’s the deal. He’s put his entire Video SEO course, Video Traffic Adrenaline, into a Kindle book and is selling it (can 99¢ be called selling?) on Amazon. He tried to make it free for us, but Amazon wouldn’t let him.

He just this morning emailed me with the details. I think you will have less than a week to pick this up before he actually prices it, so there you are…

And in Video Brain Trust news, we’re adding a massive new resource for our members. Lots and lots of really cool non-royalty production music, all in one place. Normally you pay big bucks for this kind of resource. It’s now free for our members. It will be installed in the members area within the next week.

Like I said, Christmas in September. 🙂

I couldn’t agree more! I started a video podcast on dance composition for belly dancers as a research project. The instructional video I wanted didn’t exist, so I figured I’d do my own research and share what I found. Two years later, I released my first instructional video. It was a big hit, largely because my podcast had built my credibility and gathered an audience.

The other advantage of a video podcast is that it’s a great way to learn video production. Once you’ve made a few podcast episodes, you know almost everything you need to make a commercial instructional video.

      And if I don’t have a Kindle?

Kindle books can be read on the PC, the Mac and the iPad and other tablet devices. You just need to download the free software like Kindle for PC.
