Telling stories is good for business. We love them even more than we love features and benefits.

But there is another kind of business story; even more important than the ones you tell, if not as well-understood.

So if your stories aren’t “working”, it could well be because you’ve lost the thread in the story of your own business.

This is not about what you say your business is or what you do. It’s not about who you serve, how much you charge, or how people come into your world.

The great playwrights and screenwriters call it Act II.

The model works the same way for everyone, and as it has for 1,000 years, it will work for you, too!

Thank you, Mia! Here’s to your story…

My first act as independent grapic designer–something I knew I wanted to do since I was 11–was so easy and full of referrals I thought that was normal. But looking back, the whole act could’ve been entitled, “In Which I Didn’t Know What I Didn’t Know”.

My second act as artist and kids’ book creator has been an education in value like I never imagined. After wild success in the first act, helping to sell everything from widgets to commercial buildings, I’m now offering an artful path to peace, joy and mindfulness through my art.

Results: Widget perceived value compared to peace, joy and mindfulness perceived value? 10 to 1.

Yet…I persist…There’s a story in there. I just don’t know how to tell it so it’s not a snoozer.

How could that much drama be boring? You sell yourself short.
