If you’re like me and you’ve been around the block a few times (I recently celebrated the 32nd anniversary of my 30th birthday!) this is most definitely for you. And sure, the kids can watch, too! 🙂

It’s good to go into business with your eyes wide open.

And it’s even better if you can do so wielding this single unfailing superpower.

But we don’t do it. In fact, we often refuse to do it. In fact, the older we get the more we turn our back on it. Why?

Let’s find out. Then right now, in this very moment, start using this incredible superpower, one that can’t be taken away from you, and that never fails.

The best things in life ARE free.

Another exceptional message. Thank you for the engaging presentation.

The Nielsen’s only care about those aged 18 – 49.
        49? That’s just getting started!

    • Stefan

My memories good and I can recall 49 even though it was last millennium.

But as time goes on I’m actually learning more, implementing more, challenging others to change and changing myself.

It only took one small decision. The decision to be an agent of change for others and to demonstrate it via the change they could see in me.

I’m now a contrarian, not afraid to say it as it is.

But some people see the liberty this has brought me as me being a grumpy old man. Maybe they are right.

But by learning new things and Implementing them I’m helping others and that’s a good feeling.

Well put, Stefan! As they say, big doors swing on little hinges.

Happy birthday, poet/guru and brother from another mother.

        🙂

      Great talk Steven!
I‘m going to be 60 in a few months and do have a successful online business, which caters to younger women…but I know I need to do videos of my product, to show myself…the person behind the brand…but I feel too old! It is silly to feel this way, but I do.
You are so right, that we will become,…heck, already are, indivisible if we don‘t put ourselves online. Online virtuality has become the REAL world for many. And the real world, that we have known…is just a dream to them. They sleepwalk through real life for their more ‚real‘ online life. It wont change back anymore, so we gotta join the crowd.

      • Steven Washer

Oh, boy. You really had me until “crowd”. Unless what you meant is to simply fish where they’re biting. Then by all means, go for it. 🙂

        • Chris

I mean ‚crowd‘, as in, that‘s where the people are. Yes,…not only the the better fishing, but quickly becoming the only fishing hole!

    • Shama

That pushes one of my buttons. I am about to turn 64, and it takes a real decision to put myself in front of a camera all the time. 🙂
It’s the conflict between having a message and the fear of being seen as over the hill. It’s probably irrational, but it creeps into my mind.

      • Stefan

By over the hill do you really mean reaching your prime where you have experienced seasoned by the wisdom of age?

        • Shama

I hope that others can see the wisdom aspect and that I can present it in such a way to make this come alive.

    • Mrs Sarah Tun

Very encouraging. There is so much on offer as platform, it’s not easy to know where to focus.

      • Steven Washer

That’s true, Mrs. Tun. It can seem a little disorienting at first glance. There are a number of platforms, but when you look a little closer, you notice that this is just a lot of noise in the beginning, because it’s a little further down the line in importance. The best thing one can do at first is to decide who they can serve best and how. A lot of people think they’ve figured this out, but they’ve done so in only a rudimentary way. Today the real trick is to find one’s true audience; those who really “get” you and who you “get”, too.

Then and only then is it time to take stock of your gifts and talents for expression and make a messaging decision based on which platform can best highlight your message.

We aren’t served by trying to wedge ourselves into someone else’s idea of “best” platform or business model. That’s a myth perpetrated by those with little more than an SEO agenda to get their “best of” articles to go viral. The platform you are naturally drawn to because you wish to learn more about it, to go deeper into its mysteries, is probably going to be the best one for you.

Don’t let yourself be swayed by those who tell you there is only one way of doing anything. This is a game and you get to write your own rules. I know that sounds crazy, but it’s absolutely true. To not do it your way is to play someone else’s game where they can change the rules on you anytime. That’s a recipe for misery.

What would you do if you could serve others at your highest level? That’s the only answer you need right now. The rest of these answers will come to you as you need them.

When you do realize you need to get a message out, you’ll get an idea of how you might like to do that. I know people who use only email. Some only write articles. Some use podcasts. Some use Facebook. And some use video, so I hear. None of that is important until you need it. Maybe that’s why it’s hard to know at the moment. Maybe you really want to focus on your service, and how to package it, and even more important, to whom that service can best make a difference.

Do that, and there will be much less confusion as you begin the arduous process of creating and disseminating your message.

I hope that helps a little bit.
